| General Installation Procedures |
Thank-you for purchasing the EZ-DUZZIT residential garage heater.
You have purchased either an S-straight model or a U-shaped model. Follow the appropriate installation instructions, which follow
for the model you are installing.
EZ-DUZZIT residential garage heaters are self-contained heating
appliances, which require gas supply & 120V electrical supply. All gas and
electrical connections must be done by qualified individuals with strict
adherence to all applicable codes. The heaters must be vented to the outside
(through the wall or roof). Ducting of combustion air from outside is optional,
but may be necessary in certain applications (see combustion air venting).
|
|
| Installation instructions for U-shaped U Models |
| U shaped models consist of burner, U-shaped
radiant tube heat exchanger, 2 hanging brackets and reflectors.
For access to controls, remove screw in center of doors and swing open
|
|
|
|
|
U models must be suspended with the chain provided and suspended
at each of the 4 suspension points. It should never be limited or suspended by
the burner or reflector. Using the chain provided suspend the radiant tube so
that it is parallel to the floor making sure to comply with necessary clearances
to combustibles and clearances to the floor. The length of chain may be adjusted
so that the radiant tube is flat or angle mounted.
Once the radiant tube is hanging in place, slide the reflector into place, so
that it is resting in the hanging brackets. Remove the plastic protective cover
from the nozzle of the burner and slide the burner into the enlarged end of the
"U"shaped
heat exchanger. Secure with setscrew provided.
For installations in the United States this appliance must not be installed
less than 8 ft. above the floor unless equipped with optional protective grille
(available from the manufacturer), in which case it can be installed as low as 6
It. to the floor. In Canada it t cannot be installed less than 7 fl. from the
floor and the protective grille is not needed. It must be installed with strict
adherence to clearances to combustibles.
Install thermostat approximately 5'6 above floor and not located in the
direct ray of the heater. Remove the jumper wire on the burner (marked 24 V
thermostat) and using 24 Volt wiring connect from terminals on the burner to the
thermostat.
|
|
| Gas Connection |
All gas piping and connections must be done by a qualified and licensed
technician. All gas piping must be done in accordance with all local codes and
CAN / CGA B 149 and ANSI standard Z223.1
A 1/8 N.P.T plugged tapping accessible for test gauge connection must be
supplied immediately upstream of the gas supply connection to the heater. A drip
leg must be installed in the gas line at the heater connection. |
|
| Installation Instructions for straight S series heaters |
S series straight heaters consist of burner, 2 - 10 ft. radiant
tubes, 2 - 10 ft. reflectors and 4 chrome plated hangers.
For access to controls, remove screw in center of doors and swing open
The chrome plated hangers included with the straight model EZ
DUZZIT heater have available suspension rings. If the reflector is to be
flat the hangers should be suspended from the top ring. If the reflectors are to
be angled, the hangers should be suspended from the side ring. Using the chain
provided suspend the four hangers from the ceiling ensuring that the radiant
tube will be parallel to the floor, and with strict adherence to the clearances
to combustibles as listed in this manual and the rating plate on the burner.
Suspend the hangers from either the top or side ring on the hanger as desired.
Once the hangers are suspended the radiant tubes can be placed in the hangers
ensuring that the sight glass is pointing down. Ensure that the enlarged end of
the primary tube, with the set screw is at the desired location for the burner.
Fit the primary tube into the enlarged end of the secondary tube. Install the
screw provided through the predrilled hole in the secondary tube and into the
primary tube in order to secure the two tubes together. With the tubes in place,
the reflectors can now be laded into the hangers.
Remove the protective plastic cap from the nozzle of the burner and place the
nozzle end of the burner into the enlarged end of the radiant tube. Tighten the
set screw so as to secure the burner into place.
For installations in the United States this appliance must not be installed
less than 8 ft. above the floor. In Canada it cannot be installed less than 7
ft. from the floor. It must be installed with strict adherence to clearances to
combustibles.
Install thermostat approximately 5'6 above floor and not located in the
direct ray of the heater. Remove the jumper wire on the burner (marked 24 V
thermostat) and using 24 Volt wiring connect from terminals on the burner to the
thermostat. |
|
| Minimum Clearances to Combustibles |
|
Clearances to combustibles shall be measured from the top surface of the
combustible floor, carpet or tile. This appliance must be located away from
furniture and draperies. The heat exchanger will reach high temperatures and
care must be taken to prevent bums. Children should be carefully supervised when
in the same room as this heater. Clearances to combustibles must always be
maintained. Do not touch heat exchanger while heater is in operation.

| Venting |
|
| All Venting Must Be in Accordance With All Applicable Codes |
|
- 1. All exhaust venting must be minimum of 4 diameter. The maximum
allowable length of exhaust vent pipe is 15 fl. For every 90 degree elbow in the
vent system, 5 fl. must be deducted from that maximum. Horizontal venting must
be installed with a 1/4 per foot downward slope. The exhaust vent terminal
must be installed not less than 7 fl. above grade.
- 2. The maximum allowable length of fresh air inlet venting is 15 ft. For
every 90-degree elbow in the system, 5 It. must be deducted from that total.
Fresh air seamless air intake duct and screened wall-caps are available from
your Easy Radiant Works supplier. When installed in a building with a negative air
condition, combustion air from outside the negative area is mandatory.
Combustion air wall-cap shall not be installed less than 1 ft. above grade.
- 3. Type B vent must be used for that portion of the vent that
passes through a combustible. For through the wall venting, the exhaust vent
terminal supplied by Easy Radiant Works MUST be used. The tip of the vent
terminal must be a minimum of 16 off the wall. For roof venting a suitably
approved Belmont type rain cap must be used.
- 4. If vent pipe with a slip fit connection is used, it must be mechanically
secured. Un-insulated vent pipe must not run through unheated spaces.
- 5. Venting must be supported every 3 ft. Vents for products of combustion
shall not terminate less than 6 ft. from inlet air of any other appliance. or is
less than 3 ft. from any building opening or directly above a gas utility meter.
- 6. When installed in an adequately ventilated agricultural building used for
brooding purposes, the burner may be installed un-vented and discharge it's
products directly into the space without mechanically interlocking to an exhaust
fan, provided the maximum input does not exceed 20 BTU per cubic foot, or the
input specified by local codes.
- 7. All venting should be inspected Prior to each heating season.
|
|
| Combustion air Venting |
| When located in a building with a negative air condition or in a dusty or
dirty atmosphere such as a woodworking shop, poultry barn or foundry, venting of
combustion air to the burner from outside the negative or dirty area is
mandatory. The combustion air supply should be minimum 4-inch diameter seamless
air duct, connected to fresh air adapter provided on the combustion air blower.
All joints or seams shall be sealed to prevent leakage. The maximum length of
combustion air inlet shall comply with the venting of products of
combustion as described in this manual.
|
|
| Maintenance |
| Turn off gas and power to burner prior to any servicing. Check for
restrictions in combustion air inlet and exhaust vents prior to each heating
season and periodically during the heating season. The blower motor does not
require lubrication. Clean reflectors with mild detergent solution and a soft
clothe each season. SERVICING GAS APPLIANCES SHOULD BE PERFORMED ONLY BY
QUALIFIED, LICENSED AND PROPERLY TRAINED TECHNICIANS.
