What is Easy Radiant Tube Heating (Infra Red ) and How Does it Work?
Low intensity/high intensity infra red heaters are compact, self contained direct heating device which can be used in aircraft hangers, factories, warehouses, foundries and gymnasiums. They are also well suited to areas such as loading docks, race track stands, arena bleachers, outdoor restaurants and around swimming pools. Radiant tube heaters can also be used for snow melting and de-icing; as well as car washes and other hostile environments. The infra red source or generator operates at a temperature range from 500 degrees Fahrenheit to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. Polished Aluminum Reflectors are used to control distribution of radiation in a specific pattern. Radiant infra red heaters are also effective for spot heating. They are used for heating a large area or and entire building with high efficiency and a very substantial energy savings compared to conventional heating systems. Radiant tube heaters transfer energy by radiation directly to whatever will absorb the energy, and this absorption results in a heating effect. An intermediate transfer medium such as air or water is not needed, nor are fans or pumps. Hardly any energy is lost between the radiating surface and the target area because air is a poor absorber of infra red energy. As personnel, floors and objects in the primary radiation pattern are warmed by the infra red energy, they tend to reradiate heat or lose it by convection. Reradiation is to surrounding objects, especially those outside the primary radiation pattern, as convection is to ambient air. Because of the secondary effect, mean radiation temperature and dry bulb temperature tend to approach the same degree in a well insulated space. Thus the entire room may be brought up to temperature. As early as 1973 the ADHOC committee of the New York State Inter Departmental Fuel and Energy Committee claims fuel savings as high as 50 %
What fuel savings can be expected and why?
When conventional forced warm air heaters are replaced with low intensityinfra red heaters it is commonplace to achieve fuel savings of 30% - 50%. Fuel savings of greater than 50% are not uncommon.
Why?
Heat is generated at the floor where it is required, not at the ceiling. Warm floors means worker comfort at lower thermostat settings. Fast heat recovery from doors opening and closing. As building surfaces (ie. floors) are warm, temperatures are recovered faster after overhead doors have been opened. Because heat is created at the floor, ceiling temperatures are lower reducing heat loss through the roof. The benefits of infra red heating abound and vary according to application. Dear Stan;

Here I am going into my third fall season using your "Patio Plus" outdoor heaters. I thought it only fitting that I let you know just how pleased we are, with not only the performance of the heaters, but the incredible impact that they have had on my business. Initially, we started with several of your free standing portbale propane heaters and this year added four of the stationery high intensity "Patio Plus Too" luminous heaters. Both styles have worked exceedingly well. The portables allow me the added flexibility of being able to move the heaters as required, and the high intensity luminous heaters do a great job for perimeter heating. One of the advantages of your new luminous heater is the ability of being able to switch the heaters ON/OFF with the wireless remote control.

Being able to offer my customers warm outdoor dining has made a dramatic increase in revenues. In fact, I have already realized my complete capital investment back as a result of the increased traffic.
